I’m 31, based in Austin, Texas, and completely obsessed with turning thrifted finds into rooms that look expensive. This site is where I share exactly how I do it: the costs, the measurements, and the mistakes, so you can do it too.

The spaces we live in, quietly shape how we feel, think, and move.

My story 

Before all this, I staged homes for Austin realtors. That’s a fancy way of saying I learned how to make any room look like a million bucks using what was already there, plus a few thrift-store miracles.

In 2023 I started filming my thrift flips from my little 900 sq ft rental. There was the $12 lamp that became the star of my living room, and the dresser I rescued from the curb that turned into the prettiest thing I own.

Friends kept asking how I pulled it off on such tiny budgets, so I started writing everything down. That’s how House Decor Ideas was born.

How I decorate

  • Warm minimalism. Creamy neutrals, natural light and lots of plants. Fewer pieces, better chosen.
  • Thrift stores over furniture stores, always. I check secondhand first and buy new only when secondhand can’t do the job.
  • Budget first. Every idea comes with a real price range. If it only works with a designer’s budget, it doesn’t go on this site.
